WHAT IS KANNA?
It's a succulent from
South Africa.
Meet the magical, mood-shifting succulent plant from South Africa.
what exactly is kanna?
Kanna, alias Sceletium, is a succulent plant in the family Aizoaceae, native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa.
THE USE OF THE KANNA PLANT GOES BACK 1000 YEARS, WITH DOCUMENTED USE FIRST RECORDED IN 1662.
Traditionally, it was chewed on by the KhoiSan, Khoikhoi and San indigenous communities would use while hunting and gathering to bring calm and focused clarity.* Pretty cool, right? (Turns out, even our ancestors needed a little help finding their chill.)
why is kanna special?
Kanna’s used to elevate your mood; it improves people’s daily lives by giving them a sense of peace, and personal growth by providing a sense of calm, focus, and presence.*
Utilizing plant extracts to create new products is nothing new; we’re just honored to be able to bring this knowledge to the wider world.
It’s considered a mood enhancer, a transformer of moments, helping quiet your chaotic mind, and foster deeper connection with moments. In larger doses, Kanna’s been known to provide a sense of euphoria, but it’s not hallucinogenic.*

where is kanna from?
Kanna, is native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa.
Where kanna is grown matters as the plant’s alkaloids are perfectly balanced only in its native soil; similar to how the location of scotch, Bordeaux or Bourbon affects the taste/properties of the final product. Kanna needs to be grown in the soils of South Africa.
One of the most fascinating things about Kanna is that when it’s transplanted for growth in other countries, it loses the special composition that makes it so effective.
Krysalis uses ethically-sourced Kanna grown in South Africa specifically for this use, rather than taking it from the wild. Through our supportive partnership with local communities, we’ve been granted the honor of using Kanna/Channa.
honoring the source
We are serious when it comes to honoring
medicinal plants and their origins.
Through our collaboration with our South African supply partners we are involved in formal profit sharing arrangements with the San and Khoikhoi, the traditional custodians of Sceletium knowledge, in particular the !Kai Korana Community and the South African San Council.
Our supply partners in South Africa are only committed to working with plants from responsibly managed sources. We support sustainability practices, biodiversity, and the ethical supply of our organically grown Sceletium tortuosum.
kanna vs. other plant solutions
KANNA
alters your MOOD, NOT YOUR MIND
why an elixir?
Elixirs, a fancy word for gel, provide sublingual delivery, which allow for a faster, less diluted effect.
Different from other products on the market that use the general kanna plant, we have worked closely with our lab partners in South Africa to find the right extracts within the kanna plant to provide the right experience. Each of our elixir formulations are configured to support specific intent based on the goal of the product.
We wanted to create a non-addictive, no-side-effects product to help you manage everyday stressful situations (in-laws, commuting, meetings, Mondays, the list goes on).
Within 15 minutes you'll feel a subtle shift to a relaxed state so you can more easily focus, sleep, be present, or chill for about 90 minutes.
You'll never feel high or out of control.
